Title:Multi-modality Inverse Optimization and Novel CBCT Method for Radiation Therapy
Keynote Speaker:Hao Gao
Abstract:The goal of radiation therapy is to deliver tumoricidal dose to clinical target volume (CTV) while sparing organs-at-risk (OAR). The first part of this talk will be on hybrid proton-photon inverse planning for optimized combination of CTV coverage and OAR sparing from proton or photon therapy alone. The second part of this talk will be on novel CBCT methods for accurate patient setup and adaptive radiotherapy.
Speaker Introduction:Hao Gao, PhD, joined Emory in 2018 as an Assistant Professor of Medical Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Gao is interested in novel imaging methods and systems, computational methods for dose calculation, image reconstruction and inverse optimization particularly on proton therapy, and artificial intelligence for radiotherapy. Prior to arriving at Emory, Dr. Gao was on the faculty of the Departments of Mathematics & Computer Science and Radiology & Imaging Sciences at Emory University (2012-2013), and the School of Biomedical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (2013-2016). Dr. Gao is a recipient of 1000 Young Talents Plan Award (2012) and Qiu Shi Outstanding Young Scholars Award (2013).
