Title: Some Results in Graph Theory and Matroid Theory
Keynote Speaker:Talmage James Reid
Abstract:
We consider two problems in Graph Theory and Matroid Theory. The first problem is joint with J. P. Costalonga of Universidade Federal do Esp\'irito Santo and Haidong Wu of The University of Mississippi. We determine classes of graphs that contain vertex-disjoint cycles, but that do not contain vertex-disjoint cycles that contain a fixed edge. The results here generalize classical results of Dirac from 1963 and Lov\'{a}sz from 1965. The second problem determines an excluded-minor class of binary matroids without a Prism+e minor. This result is joint with Kayla Harville and Haidong Wu of The University of Mississippi.
