Keynote Speaker:Qiu Jianxian

Abstract:

In this presentation, we will review and present the recent development of WENO (weighted essentially non-oscillatory) type limiters for Runge-Kutta discontinuous Galerkin (RKDG) methods. The goal of designing such limiters is to obtain a robust and high order limiting procedure to simultaneously obtain uniform high order accuracy and sharp, nonoscillatory shock transition for the RKDG method. We adopt the following framework: first we identify the”troubled cells”, namely those cells which might need the limiting procedure; then we replace the solution polynomials in those troubled cells by reconstructed polynomials using WENO methodology which maintain the original cell averages (conservation), have the same orders of accuracy as before, but are less oscillatory. These methods work quite well in our numerical tests for both one and two dimensional cases, which will be shown in the presentation.

Introduction to the Speaker:

Qiu Jianxian, male, doctor, Professor of the School of Mathematical Science of Xiamen University, and editorial board member of the well-known international journalsJ Comp Phys(Computational Physics). He is engaged in the research of computational fluid dynamics and numerical methods of differential equations, and has made some important results in the research and application of discontinuous Galerkin (DG) and the numerical methods of weighted essential non-oscillatory (WENO). More than 100 papers have been published. He presided over one key project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and one key project supported by the Collaborative Fund. He participated in the special research project of the EU-FP6 and was the only non-EU member of the project team. He has been invited to give plenary lectures at international conferences many times.
